A Listening Life

I want to live a listening life. One of the best ways to love someone is to listen to them. To truly listen. One of the fastest ways to kill a good conversation or the opportunity to learn something new is to be a bad listener…to be distracted while someone is sharing their heart, or worse, to be thinking about what you are going to say as they’re speaking. I’ve been thinking about how to improve and just be a better listener and love people more and deeper.

I think we are guilty of this not only with people but with God. In our culture, even in reading the Word and in prayer, many fight to really listen in and be changed because they’re thinking through the filter of what they’re going to say, post, or preach instead of just listening to the Lord, meditating, and soaking in His presence. In this posture, we are truly transformed and changed by HEARING AND OBEYING HIM, listening to His voice, His word, His love, and His commands…and letting them permeate our very souls…changing us from the inside out. He longs to speak to you, and He wants to hear your heart, also.

There is a sacredness that we must protect. Some things are to be held, pondered, and protected. I’ve been challenged lately to be a better listener. Yes, with people, but mainly with my God. Communion with Him is our greatest treasure.

There’s so much “noise” in the world right now. Just noise… It’s important to tune in and listen in. I want to live a listening life.

Between work and meetings, I love to get outside and be in nature! It’s such a good way to slow down and do this. The plants at my house are coming along so beautifully.

Here are some new ones I’ve recently potted….

Love all of you! Praying you have a great Wednesday!
